About Bluetongue
Bluetongue started in the Hunter Valley in 2003 the way many great things start… as an idea, in a pub, over a beer with mates. The idea was to brew a premium Australian beer for the modern palate, in a location where it was needed the most: wine country.
That idea turned into the first Bluetongue Beer, which was brewed using the regions’ finest malted barley and three varieties of hops (instead of the regular one or two). The somewhat unique triple hopping process resulted in a beer with the perfect balance of flavour, aroma and finish (if we say so ourselves).
With the success of the first beer, the Bluetongue range expanded to include Bluetongue Premium Lager, Bluetongue Premium Light, Bluetongue Traditional Pilsner and Bluetongue Ginger Beer. And, after four expansions, the brewery quickly outgrew its home at the Hunter Resort. In 2010, the brand new, state-of-the-art Bluetongue Brewery brewed its first case of Bluetongue.
So that’s the story of Bluetongue so far. From one little idea in 2003, we've grown to become Australia's 6th biggest brewery. We plan to keep sipping, sharing and ‘cheers-ing’ to new ideas.
